Wilshire Boulevard in the 1970s

Join Annie Laskey for a walk down Wilshire Boulevard in the 1970s!

It was an ambitious after-school project: do an informal photo survey of Wilshire Boulevard from downtown to the ocean. Mother Marlene, a Michigan native, loved everything about Los Angeles. Daughter Annie liked architecture and using her mom’s Minolta camera. Together, they spent about a dozen Tuesday afternoons walking the Boulevard compiling over 1,000 slides that now paint a picture of a by-gone era of LA. In 2010, Annie donated the Wilshire slides to the LA Public Library Photo Collection.

Annie will share some of her favorite slides and memories.
